Must I attend each live weekly discussion group?

Much of the value comes from the live discussions each week. We strongly encourage you to participate in the live discussions. If you are unable to attend a live conversation, we will be sharing with registrants a recording of each week’s discussion on Fridays.

Renea Roberts — Filmmaker, Thinking Like Water

Brad Lancaster — Rainwater Harvester, Permaculture Instructor, Author

Brad Lancaster is an expert in rainwater harvesting, passive solar design, permaculture, and community-driven native food forestry. His books on Rainwater Harvesting for Drylands and Beyondand his bold, innovative strategies help communities restore ecosystems, grow food, and manage water in dry regions using practical, low-cost, nature-based solutions. Bill Zeedyk — Ecological Restoration Pioneer, Biologist, Author, Let the Water Do the Work, Featured Expert in Thinking Like Water, a Five-part Documentary Series

Bill Zeedyk is a living legend. After 34 years as a wildlife biologist with the U.S. Forest Service, he launched a second career restoring degraded streams, wetlands, and floodplains using low-tech, low-cost, and low-risk methods that work with nature. Over seven decades, Bill has helped heal hundreds of miles of waterways in the desert southwest and beyond, mentored thousands of practitioners and volunteers, and taught people across the world to read the land, slow water, and trust natural processes. He is the author of Let the Water Do the Work and the featured expert throughout the Thinking Like Water five-part docuseries. Learn more about Bill’s work.

Meet Your Water Mentor & Host

Wren Soperanes — Water Cycle Restoration Practitioner, Consultant & Designer

Wren Soperanes is the founder of Water Weaver Earthworks, a licensed water cycle restoration consultancy rooted in Twisp, Washington. He works with landowners and communities to design and implement restoration strategies that reestablish natural hydrological function. Increasing infiltration, groundwater recharge, soil water retention across upland, riparian, and wetland systems. His practice spans wetland restoration, post-fire watershed recovery, passive water harvesting design, beaver coexistence and beaver policy work. Informed by the field's leading practitioners including Bill Zeedyk, Brad Lancaster, Dr. Emily Fairfax and Zach Weiss.

Wren leads the water retention workstream at the Methow Watershed Council and holds a Washington State General Contractor license for restoration construction. He brings to his practice a profound ancestral relationship with water, rooted in his Ñuu Savi heritage, the People of the Rain.

As your host for this series, Wren brings the landscape into the room. Each Friday evening is an invitation to see the Methow Valley differently, to understand the water moving beneath your feet, through your property, and through this watercatchement we all share.
